That 3rd painting reminds me of a young Leonard Nimoy.
No, it's awful what people do out of fear and ignorance. That's what it is, really. Even as preached by the world's religions - it is out of fear and ignorance that they preach against it. As we can see, many times it leads to hate crimes; many times it leads to suicide.
